In the project courses, the students are encouraged to approach a real life problem situation, using the appropriate tools in order to design a solution. Aside from mandatory activities, as a Department, we encourage our students to be involved in organizations like the IISE.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Industrial Engineering program consists of 134 credits divided into the following components:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EMathematics and Basic Sciences\u003C\/strong\u003E: students are expected to take mathematics, physics and one elective course in chemistry, biology or ecology over the first periods of the program. In addition, basic courses in probability and statistics, optimization principles, financial statement analysis, microeconomics and investment decision analysis, all of this based on the concepts provided in the basic Mathematics courses.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EEngineering Topics\u003C\/strong\u003E: engineering topics are structured into four groups: 1) Fundamentals of Engineering (basic programming courses, optimization principles course, investment decision analysis, probabilistic models and an electives course in another engineering field), 2) fundamentals of Industrial Engineering (related to different topics, including operational research, probability, statistics, simulation, production systems, supply chain control, management systems, system dynamics, organizational strategy, microeconomics, and corporate finance); 3) technical deepening courses in areas related to each student\u2019s interest within Industrial Engineering, and 4) courses in the Design Project Cycle.
